Calyptrocalyx Leptostachya (Salmon Leaf Palm) is a rare, slow-growing, exotic palm from rainforests of Papua New Guinea. As you can tell by its common name, the pinnate compound leaves of this lovely palm start out with a deep salmon color. It is considered a dwarf or understory palm as it only reaches a height of 6 feet tall. The slender crownshaft sits atop a rather narrow trunk, and stilt roots emerge near the base of the trunk to stabilize the palm as it grows.
You will find it fairly easy to care for this colorful palm tree whether you keep it indoors or plant it outside. Be sure to provide full to partial shade when your palm is young. Once it matures, it does well in filtered sunlight. With that in mind, follow these general palm-tree growing tips to ensure your Salmon Leaf Palm has a long and healthy life.
