How to Use Down To Earth Fish Meal 8-6-0*
Follow these growing tips to use Fish Meal 8-6-0 with confidence.
- Vegetable Gardens and Flower Beds: Thoroughly mix 2 1/2 to 5 pounds per 100 square feet of new garden soil and apply to the top 3″ of soil. Give new transplants 1 to 2 tablespoons per hole mixed into the soil. Water thoroughly. Monthly during the growing season, side dress established plants with 1 to 2 ounces depending on plant size and desired rate of growth.
- Container Gardens: Thoroughly mix 1 to 2 tablespoons per gallon of soil for new plantings or 2 1/2 to 5 pounds per cubic yard of soil. Lightly mix 1 to 2 tablespoons per gallon into the soil surface of established plants monthly during the growing season.
- Trees: For new trees, mix 1 cup with the backfill soil from the transplant hole. Fill the hole around the tree with the amended soil and water thoroughly. Mix into the soil surface and spread 1 to 2 pounds per 1″ of trunk diameter around the base of established trees out to the drip line (the area located under the outer circumference of the tree’s branches). Water well.
- Row Crops: Based on the unique needs of the crop you’re growing or how much nitrogen per acre your soil requires (a soil test will give you this information), apply 300-500 lbs per acre.
