And while shrimp meal is more finely ground than crab meal (link), making its nutrients a bit more quickly available to plants, it is still a slow-release fertilizer that conditions the soil and protects against pests and disease. How to Use Down To Earth Shrimp Meal 6-6-0*

Follow these growing tips to use Down To Earth Shrimp Meal 6-6-0 with confidence.

• Vegetable Gardens and Flower Beds: For new gardens, thoroughly mix into the top 3″ of soil 2 pounds per 100 square feet. Water thoroughly. For new transplants, mix 1 to 2 tablespoons with the back fill soil from the transplant hole, plant, and water well. Side dress established plants with 2 to 4 ounces, monthly during growing season. The amount used will depend on desired growth rate and plant size.
• Container Gardens: Thoroughly mix into the soil of new plantings 1 to 2 tablespoons per gallon of soil or 10 pounds per cubic yard. Lightly mix 1 to 2 tablespoons per gallon into the surface soil of established plants. Do this monthly during growing season.
• Trees: Prepare the transplant hole for new trees. Mix 1 to 2 cups with the back fill soil, fill the hole with the amended soil and around the tree. Water thoroughly. Mix and spread 1 to 2 pounds per 1″ of trunk diameter into the surface soil around the base of established trees and out toward the drip line (the area located under the outer circumference of the tree’s branches). Water thoroughly.
• Row Crops: Depending on the requirements of the crop or the number of pounds of nutrients needed per acre (a soil test will determine this), apply 500 to 1,000 pounds per acre.
