Dypsis sp Maroantsetra is a rare, understory palm that gets its name from its place of origin, near Maroantsetra, Madagascar. Its overall size, slender trunk, and unique, bow-tie leaflets make it an excellent potted houseplant. And while we don’t know that much about this palm tree variety, we can reasonably conclude that it is probably endangered in the wild due to the loss of Madagascar’s palm tree habitat from land overdevelopment.
As a slow-growing, understory palm, this evergreen palm tree prefers filtered sunlight, whether it remains potted indoors, or you decide to plant it outside. With that in mind, follow these general palm-tree growing tips to ensure your Dypsis sp Maroantsetra has a long and healthy life.
