Scotch Pine Christmas Tree

Bare Scotch pine Christmas tree on a red and white velvet floor covering

The Scotch or “Scots” Pine is an excellent Christmas tree for the budget-minded shopper. It grows naturally in the form of a pyramid and is then trimmed to give it a dense appearance. These hardy trees have sturdy branches which makes them well suited for either light or heavy ornamentation.

The needles of the Scotch Pine vary in length from one to three inches and grow in bundles of two. They range in color from bright to dark green on top, with white undersides. Needle retention is so good that they barely drop off, even when dry.

Native to Europe and Asia, our Scotch Pines are farm-grown in the Pacific Northwest. Watered well, your tree will easily last throughout the holiday season.

Christmas Tree Care Tips

  • Water your tree immediately after setting it up. It will be very thirsty and may need up to a gallon of water during its first 24 hours in your home. Plain, room-temperature tap water is fine.
  • Be sure to check the water level every day, and add water as needed . A well-watered tree will shed fewer needles and remain healthy longer. Also, dry trees are combustible and represent a fire hazard. So water often, making sure water levels never drop below the tree’s base.
  • Add non-toxic Tree Life Tree Preservative to the water to ensure your tree gets the essential nutrients and minerals it needs to stay healthy throughout the holidays. It also softens fibers, making it easier for your tree to get the water it needs.
