The main ingredient in Down To Earth Acid Mix 4-3-6 is cottonseed meal. It is a slow-release fertilizer traditionally used to lower soil pH. Cottonseed meal aerates the soil, promotes healthy leaf growth and beautiful blossoms, improves fruit and vegetable production, and strengthens root systems.
Down To Earth Acid Mix 4-3-6 also includes fish bone meal, langbeinite, soft rock phosphate, kelp meal, and humates (decomposed organic matter).
How to Use Down To Earth Acid Mix 4-3-6*
Follow these growing tips to use Down To Earth Acid Mix 4-3-6 with confidence.
- Vegetable Gardens and Flower Beds: Thoroughly mix 2 1/2 to 5 pounds per 100 square feet into the top 3″ of soil in new gardens. Mix 1 to 2 tablespoons into the back fill soil from the hole of new transplants, fill the hole, and water thoroughly. Depending on plant size and preferred growth rate, side dress them once a month with 2 to 4 ounces per plant during the growing season.
- Container Gardens and House Plants: Thoroughly mix 1 to 2 tablespoons per gallon of soil for new plants or 5 to 10 pounds per cubic yard. During the growing season, lightly mix 1 to 2 tablespoons per gallon into the soil surface of established plants once a month.
- Trees: New trees – Mix 1 to 2 cups with the back fill soil from the transplant hole, fill in the hole and around the tree with the amended soil, and water thoroughly. Established trees – Mix into the soil surface and spread 1 pound per 1″ of trunk diameter around the tree base and out to the drip line (the area located under the outer circumference of the tree’s branches). Water thoroughly.
- Berries: New gardens – Thoroughly mix 2 1/2 to 5 pounds per 100 linear feet into the top 3″ of soil. New transplants 1 to 2 years old – Mix 1/2 cup into the back fill soil from the transplant hole, fill the hole and around the plant with the amended soil, and water thoroughly. Established berries – At the beginning of the growing season, mix 1 cup per plant into the surface soil and water thoroughly. Use half that amount when blossoms appear and at the end of the growing season.
