How to Use Down To Earth All Purpose Mix 4-6-2*

Follow these growing tips to use Down To Earth All Purpose Mix 4-6-2 with confidence.

• Tomatoes: New 4″ tomato starts – thoroughly mix 2 to 3 tablespoons with the back fill soil of each transplant hole. Fill the hole and around the transplant with the amended soil. Water thoroughly. One gallon tomato transplants – mix 1/4 to 1/2 cup for each plant. Established tomatoes – once a month during the growing season, side dress each plant with 1/4 to 1/2 cup.
• Vegetable Gardens and Flower Beds: New gardens – thoroughly mix 2 1/2 to 5 pounds per 100 square feet of soil into the top 3″ of garden soil. New transplants – mix 1 to 2 tablespoons with the back fill soil of the transplant hole. Fill the hole and around the transplant with the amended soil. Water thoroughly. Established plants – once a month during the growing season, side dress each plant with 2 to 4 ounces.
• Container Gardens: New plantings – thoroughly mix 1 to 2 tablespoons per gallon of soil into the soil or 5 to 10 pounds per cubic yard. Established plants – once a month during the growing season, lightly mix 1 to 2 tablespoons per gallon of soil into the soil surface.
• Trees: New trees – thoroughly mix 1 to 2 cups with the back fill soil of the transplant hole. Fill the hole and around the tree with the amended soil. Water thoroughly. Established trees – Mix 1 pound per 1″ of trunk diameter; spread around the base of the tree and out to the drip line (the area located under the outer circumference of the tree’s branches). Water thoroughly.
• Row Crops: Depending on the specific nutritional needs of the crop or the number of pounds of actual nitrogen per acre the soil needs (a soil test will determine this), apply 750 to 1,000 pounds per acre.
