Fraser Fir Christmas Tree

Bare Frasier Fir Christmas tree on a red and white velvet floor covering

The elegant, yet sturdy Fraser Fir is the perfect tree to hang your heavy Christmas decorations on. It’s natural shape requires no shearing, and the unique color of its upward-curving branches makes it look like the tree has been dusted with a shimmering layer of winter frost. Your home will be filled with its pleasing, “woodsy” scent throughout the holidays.

Originally discovered in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina in the 1800’s, today the Fraser Fir is also grown on tree farms in Oregon and the Great Lakes region of the U.S.

While the North Carolina variety is a bit denser than the ones grown in the Midwest, any Fraser Fir you purchase will retain its inch-long needles and remain fresh in appearance well past Christmas Day.

Christmas Tree Care Tips

  • Water your tree immediately after setting it up. It will be very thirsty and may need up to a gallon of water during its first 24 hours in your home. Plain, room-temperature tap water is fine.
  • Be sure to check the water level every day, and add water as needed . A well-watered tree will shed fewer needles and remain healthy longer. Also, dry trees are combustible and represent a fire hazard. So water often, making sure water levels never drop below the tree’s base.
  • Add non-toxic Tree Life Tree Preservative to the water to ensure your tree gets the essential nutrients and minerals it needs to stay healthy throughout the holidays. It softens fibers, making it easier for your tree to get the water it needs.
